Artificial Intelligence and Society Conference (AIS)
June 22 – July 1, 2026
International cross-disciplinary discussion platform where AI researchers, lawyers, philosophers, linguists, computer science and IT industry practitioners, managers, and anyone else interested can exchange ideas about the mutual influence of the two complex systems of AI and society. This year, as part of the conference, the International Seminar "AI and BRICS Competition Policy" will take place, jointly organised by the BRICS Competition Law and Policy Centre and the HSE University School of Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence.

Alexey Koshel
Vice-Rector, HSE University
Doctor of Sciences, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and an expert in public law and public administration. Oversees the university’s key legal and human resources policy areas, and coordinates HSE University’s research, expert, and analytical activities in the fields of law, public administration, and municipal governance. Awarded the Certificate of Honor of the President of the Russian Federation and the Anatoly Koni Medal.
Maxim Shaskolskiy
Head, Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia)
Mr. Shaskolsky has built extensive professional experience across the energy sector and public administration, including senior executive roles in major energy companies and leadership positions within the Government of Saint Petersburg, where he oversaw energy policy and tariff regulation. Since 2020, he has headed the Federal Antimonopoly Service, contributing to the development of competition policy and regulatory frameworks.
Alexey Ivanov
Director, BRICS Competition Law and Policy Centre
Academic supervisor at the HSE Centre for Technology Transfer, Professor of Law, HSE University. His professional interests include competition policy in the new economy, the regulation of digital platforms, intellectual property, legal theory, and legal policy. He is the author of numerous publications on antitrust regulation and the legal and economic aspects of technological development.
Mr. Ivanov has received a number of state and professional awards for his contributions to competition law and legal scholarship. As Director of the BRICS Competition Centre, he is responsible for strategic management, research activities, and international cooperation in the field of competition policy.

Igor Drozdov
Deputy Chairman, VEB.RF
PhD in Law, and a Class 3 State Councillor of Justice of the Russian Federation. Mr. Drozdov has held senior positions in government and development institutions, including the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, the Supreme Arbitrazh Court of the Russian Federation, and the Skolkovo Foundation, where he later became Chairman of the Management Board.
He is a member of the Council for Intellectual Property under the Federation Council of the Russian Federation and the Expert Council under the Government of the Russian Federation. He is the author of more than 30 academic publications in civil law and has been awarded several state and departmental honors, as well as commendations from the President of the Russian Federation.
